Sewing on the Agenda

The sewing room is unpacked, and I can't wait to get it organized and set up for sewing.  For months and months I've been keeping a list of things I wanted to create.  Since its been almost a year since I've sat down to sew a stitch, I'm afraid my list is incredibly long, and I know I'll never get to everything on it...yet, a girl can dream.

Unpacking all my fabrics and finding a place to park them, I'm re-inspired to start a couple of blouses and a dress or two.  Yet, there is a very large pile of unearthed mending that is nagging me to attack first. seems fun...the other, meh...not so much.  I think I'll indeed start something new and fun first, and let that mending pile wait awhile longer.  Here's a few of things I'm considering...

This Rayon blend nubby weave reminds me of summers at the Cottage at the Lake when I was a young'un.  Purchased on sale quite a few years ago, I've got about 10 yards ... quite a bit.  I'm wondering if I should use it for curtains in the guest room, or a sheet and pillow for the back yard hammock.  It would be perfect if I have enough for both.
Then there is this yummy, soft green silky cotton-sateen.  It has a wonderful drape, and I'm hankering to turn it into a sweet summer dress.  There's a wedding in the future that this would be perfect for.

And finally, I just love this lime green print on gauzy cotton shirt-weight.  This will become another camp-shirt, definitely....can't have too many of those!  I picked up a pretty pattern at Hancocks that has princess favorite.  I really love this lime green--so summery.

I also have a couple of Aloha prints purchased in Hawaii a couple of years ago that I envision as camp shirts as well, but I have no pictures of those fabrics...yet.  If I decide to continue the sewing-for-myself frenzy and whip these up as well, I'll be sure to post pictures then.

Sew So, until next time, Happy Sewing, Everyone!

  1. Love the fabrics! It's been so long since I cut out a pattern, I'm not sure I remember how! Can't wait to see your completed projects! I like the lime green, too!

  2. Wow I love those fabrics - not sure why but that nubby stuff reminds me of the cottage at the lake too! Have fun!

  3. Me too, and I'm not sure either, you guys. Maybe because these were popular color combinations during those years at the lake back in the 40s and 50s????

    thanks for swing by
