Garden Tuesday - Ohio Orchard and Gardens

Apple Tree Next to the Vegetable Garden
This is our former home's garden in Central Ohio.  We had 11 apple trees with 3 varieties of apples.  This one is one of the Golden Delicious varieties in full bloom.  The veggie garden lies behind the fence.

Kitchen Garden Springtime Weeds
The herbaceous garden next to the back door in early Spring.  A good weeding is in order, but already the geraniums, huechera, thyme, veronica and coneflowers are on their way for the season.

Patio Area Late Spring
The weeding was done weeks ago, and now Summertime approaches.  Still waiting for the climbing rose to climb, but everything is doing quite well.  A perfect place to have morning coffee and a rest in the hammock after work.

Old Homestead Front Entry with Service Berry and Coral Berry
We moved from this place shortly after these pictures were taken.  We moved to Southern Virginia this past March, so we have new gardening skills to develop.  Do I miss my old place?  Yup, but the house and grounds were way too big for just the two of us.  It was time to hand it over to another family to enjoy.  The current owners have two small children who are enjoying their new bikes and the quiet cul-de-sac.  We now are happy to make our new place's neglected and overgrown gardens our own....next time, some of our new garden photos.

  1. Your Ohio home was so beautiful, inside and out, Karen. I just know your new (smaller) home will be just as beautiful when you and Lee are finished with all the renovations and landscaping/gardening. Whatever you touch turns out to be gorgeous. You have a creative talent that has no bounds. Seriously.

  3. My mother has recently down-sized and moved into a much smaller place. She misses her garden very much and is in a town house now with limited gardening opportunities.
