Photo Friday - Tshirt Quilt

Wow, it's Photo Friday, already!  Where does the week go?

For this week, I've decided to share a photo of the t-shirt quilt I'm working on for Katie.  Right now it looks like it'll be a long dorm bunk size, but I'm toying with the idea of changing it to a throw and a large pillow.

Tomorrow I need to shop for some backing and sashing fabric.  I'm in new territory here, but there's so many quilters out and about in the shops that are always more than happy to help out a newbie.  I'm sure this should be no problem.  I'm armed with a list of shops, samples of my blocks and my dimensions, so I'm off to do battle in the morning.  As you can see, most of the blocks are in purple or gold or grey.  Now Katie isn't all that fond of purple, and she's always leaned toward the bright and bold color schemes, so I'm leaning toward bright pink for the backing.  The sash color/s is still up in the air....maybe black....I just don't know yet.

Feel free to offer your suggestions, especially my artist friends and lurkers out there (and you know who you are ;)  I sure can use all the help I can get...

  2. It's always hard for me to see these things when they are in construction phase, but for some reason I'm zoning in on the baby blues and wondering if a monochromatic blue color scheme would work?

Pink backing and black sashing would certainly pop!!!

  3. Thanks, Trudy. I hope she'll like it.
Antoinette, I love the idea of picking up on the baby blues, too, Antoinette -- what a great idea. I have an old blue sheet that I laid adjacent to the blocks and it really works nicely. But, I don't think I'm going to use it 'cause I found some fabric at a yard-sale yesterday. It's black with tiny grey paw prints on it. I've got enough to make the backing as well as the sashing, too, for next to nothing, and it keeps with the Bulldog mascot theme. And it does make it make it pop when I place in bright pink cornerstones too. Wish me luck on all these corners...I'm a little nervous ;)
