SewMamaSew has a meme about your machine going this month. They're running a list and review of machines this month. Here's my meme.....
What brand and model do you have?
I have 4 machines--janome 6230, janome serger, janome coverlock, and a Bernina 440QE. I'll talk about my Bernina here.
How long have you had it? 6 months
How much does that machine cost (approximately)? $2500 (used)
What types of things do you sew (i.e. quilting, clothing, handbags, home dec projects, etc.)? Clothing mostly
How much do you sew? How much wear and tear does the machine get?
Not sure how to answer this. I sew a great deal, but about half of it is done on my serger.
Do you like/love/hate your machine? Are you ambivalent? Passionate? Does she have a name?
I love the way it sews consistently well. I hate that I don't know how to use the embroidery unit yet, as well as the high costs of accessories. It has no name.
What features does your machine have that work well for you?
It has many many built-in stitches and 3 embroidery stitches that I can use without the embroidery unit.
Is there anything that drives you nuts about your machine?
Do you have a great story to share about your machine (i.e., Found it under the Christmas tree? Dropped it on the kitchen floor? Sewed your fingernail to your zipper?, Got it from your Great Grandma?, etc.!)? We want to hear it!
No, sorry....nothing yet.
Would you recommend the machine to others? Why?
Yes. It sews beautifully and has many nice features to make sewing easier.
What factors do you think are important to consider when looking for a new machine?
The dealer is the major consideration in my opinion. Followed closely by the reliability of the machine you're considering. I have a great Janome dealer who is so very helpful every time. My Bernina dealer is not as conscientious about her customer service, and its annoying. She has yet to have scheduled a mastery class for the embroidery unit, and it's been 6 months!
Do you have a dream machine?
This would be it :)
